Well we decided to take a mystery trip (unplanned trip that the kids do not know about) - we made the hotel arrangements on Monday and left on Tuesday. We stayed one night in Munich and spent 2 days there - we ate at great restaurants and saw some amazing sights. In Munich we went to the Sea Life aquarium and walked downtown to see the St. Michael and Saint Peter churches. The weather was great - cool but not cold. There was an outside ice rink in downtown and there were so many people walking around and shopping.
On Wednesday at about 4:30 we started our journey to our hotel in Austria - right over the German/ Austrian border to an adorable hotel in the middle of a large meadow. The room was so great and we had dinner at their restaurant which was wonderful, Thursday a.m. we left to see 2 castles in Southern German - Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau. The pictures are below (right in slide show). It was a little bummer as the Neuschwanstein was under construction but I have included a picture to the left of the castle. It was truly beautiful. It was on a hill that we had to take a horse carriage to get to the top - Abby loved that....
We took the scenic drive home to Freiburg past Lake Constance (Bodensee) which is a huge lake in Germany. It was a good drive home - Brody and Abby were so tired and slept most of the way...
We will be ringing in the New Year in Freiburg and partying with our neighbors. We will watch the fireworks on a hill by our flat. We hope you all have a great new year - 2012 looks like it is going to be a wonderful year!!!
Love to all,
Brad and Nancy
