Well we had a great weekend - we had friends over for lunch and then went to a dog show which was fun. We even got a present for Bo... Then on Saturday early evening we went on a Lantern walk through Herdern (our neighborhood) and all the children of this area went on a walk with their lanterns (see pictures below) -- it is to remember Saint Martin a rich man that shared his coat with a poor man that was cold. The children and parents do the walk around a section of the neighborhood (police escorted) by a man on a horse (St. Martin) and then we watched children act out the story of Saint Martin. Lastly, to make the point of sharing and being kind to others - every other child is given a soft pretzel (which are so yummy here) and they are asked to share with the child next to them... It was a special evening. We love the sense of community and allowing children to be little and experience such neat little moments...
Now it is packing time... We have 1 suitcase packed with the kids and gifts. Now it is time to pack for Brad and I.... We will leave later this week for the USA to enjoy family, friends and turkey!
